Healthy Schools Manual

How can we make our schools healthy learning environments?

Children learn better with access to clean drinking water and hygienic sanitary infrastructure, as they are less likely to get sick or spread illness. This manual is aimed at supporting teachers, PTA members, principals and school directors who are working towards improving school health. It can be used in committee meetings to promote healthy schools policy and to inform decision making.

The manual focuses on how to raise awareness about how hygiene is linked with health, how to improve toilet use and water supplies and how to prevent the spread of diseases. It also contains additional information on infrastructure costs, disease symptoms and rainwater harvesting.
