Education for Sustainable Development - Teacher Training Manual
This Guide was developed to enable teachers colleges to deliver a basic course in Education for Sustainability to new and in-service teachers.
The structure of the Guide is based on requirements of the Solomon Islands Teachers College, where it was piloted, however it may be modified to suit a different curriculum structure. The Guide aims to provide teachers with an increased understanding of ESD and skills to implement ESD in schools as part of environmental education. It is intended to contribute to an increase in the quality and quantity of ESD delivered in schools.
Ultimately the goal of this Guide is to play a role in the development of teachers and students who have the knowledge, attitudes and skills necessary to take action and make changes in their communities towards a more just and sustainable society and environment.
