Strengthening Public Health in Poor Communities in the Solomon Islands (SPHPCSI)
A new partnership established between Live & Learn Environmental Education - Solomon Islands and R.O.C Taiwan seeks to address health and environmental problems affecting the well being of Solomon Islands communities.
The partnership works in an integrated manner with the Ministry of Health, Solomon Islands Government and the Government of R.O.C (Taiwan) through the Taiwan Health Centre in Solomon Islands. The partnership focuses in developing appropriate health and environmental education tool kits and providing training to teachers, students and community leaders particularly in Guadalcanal and Honiara. Since started, the project has already mobilised medical and environmental experts from both partners during the resource development process. The project implementation involves:
- Production 500 flipcharts, posters and stickers on health hygiene and Communicable diseases,
- Hygiene and environmental education training delivery and
- General public hygiene and environmental awareness through media
