Eco-tourism Capacity Building

Community Based Eco-tourism – Investing in Capacity for Community Based Ecotourism for Conservation of the Cardamom Mountains (ICCCM)

This project is established to focus on providing quality training and capacity building to Chi Phat and Trapeang Roung CBET Committee and CBET entrepreneurs and the other technical support by collaboration with Wildlife Alliance.

The project was developed with three main objectives: (1)  Foster sustainable livelihoods through community-based ecotourism and raise understanding of the environmental and economic significance of the region for the communities to achieve a higher level of independence, thus preventing further destruction and wildlife trading in the protected forest region surrounding Chi Phat and Trapeang Rung areas. (2) Build capacity of the communes to engage in conservation by developing Handouts and providing education and training in eco-tour (CBET) operations and management of Handouts developed. (3)  Facilitate sustainable job opportunities in ecotourism and in supporting field of agriculture throughout the two target areas to reduce villages’ dependency on forests and wildlife for their livelihoods.
